Résumé

This work evaluates a new titanium dioxide (TiO2) catalyst that was prepared by deposition of thin films of TiO2 nanoparticles on fiber glass using dip-coating and sol-gel method. The described technique could be used to produce uniform thin film of TiO2 on the fibrous and other non-flat substrate materials. The structure and morphology of the catalysts were determined by BET, SEM and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) tests. The efficiency of the new catalysts was evaluated with selected volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at different concentration levels and relative humidity conditions. The synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles exhibited a highly removal efficiency with the test compounds and the photocatalytic activity of the prepared catalysts and the experimental results were comparable with commercial P25 TiO2. The results showed that the photooxidation of prepared catalysts was superior compared to the commercial one, which was tested at different concentrations and humidity levels. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
